A student committed to inspiring graphic artists the world over!
Does the term character font mean anything to you? Arial and Times New Roman are the most widely known. But did you know there were many others? And that you can also design your own? Web programming and graphic arts enthusiast Jessica Lapointe launched CuttyFruty.com in 2004 when she was only 13 years old. The site is dedicated to promoting her creations: entirely original character fonts that can be accessed free of charge for personal use. Though she published her very first font in 2005, the CuttyFruty endeavour truly got off the ground in 2008 when, for the first time, one of Jessica’s creations reached Number 1 on the specialized site dafont.com. Ever since, her font called Jellyka Castle’s Queen has been downloaded more than 2 million times from all over the world and the international popularity of the CuttyFruty website is on the increase with visitors from 188 different countries. Widespread visibility such as this has obviously led to some wonderful surprises: “a number of well known companies including Microsoft, Lise Watier and Jacob use my fonts,” the student admits. Since 2008, the CuttyFruty site has been much sought after by graphic artists from around the world because it is a high-quality, original resource that is simple to use.
