Pamela Chrabieh
Université de Montréal
Having survived war in her childhood Lebanon (1975-1990), Pamela Chrabiah, a 25-year-old student in religious science at the Université de Montréal, has retained from this painful experience a sense of commitment to peace, solidarity, determination and the recognition of differences. For ten years, this desire to improve the world around her has been expressed in numerous ways. The recipient of scholarships from the Université de Montréal that bear witness to her impressive academic achievements, she gives daily expression to her commitment to promoting peace and dialogue between different cultures through visual arts, multimedia, heritage protection and community involvement. As president of both the International Rotaract Club and a research group for Near-East heritage protection, and as a member of Radio Ville-Marie, Groupe féminismes et interspiritualités and a league for human rights and civil liberties, Pamela strives to focus her actions on the avowed objective of creating places for exchange and learning intended to promote mutual understanding.
