CRITERIA FOR INDIVIDUALS

Applicants must:

Be registered as full-time students (or be recognized as such by their university) for at least one semester during the period of eligibility (1 May 2011 to 30 April 2012).
Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
Not have been paid to participate.
Be no more than 35 years of age.
Not be former recipients of an AVENIR trophy, for the university program.

CRITERIA FOR PROJECTS

The project may be carried out as part of a university undergraduate program worth a maximum of three credits.
The project must not take place in the context of a course or a research program which is part of the requirements for obtaining a graduate degree.
At least 80% of the students involved in the project must meet the criteria for individuals.
The project must be initiated, made operational or be carried out during the period of eligibility (1 May 2011 to 30 April 2012).
The project must not have already received an AVENIR trophy, for the university program.

AVENIR PROJECTS

Application files must include:

The presentation form including the names of all the participants on the project (this form is available at the student services office of your university or by clicking here ).
A two-and-a-half page presentation outlining the project and explaining how it meets each and every criterion for selection.
Three letters of recommendation supporting the application of your project.
A press review (if applicable).
A 15-line résumé of the project annexed to the presentation form.
A compact disc containing ten photographs of the project .

The application file must not exceed 10 pages, excluding the presentation form and name of all the participants.

PERSONALITY AVENIR - Undergraduates and graduates

Application files must include:

The presentation form (available at the student services office of your university or by clicking here).
A two-and-a-half page presentation describing the candidate and explaining how he/she meets each and every criterion for selection.
Three letters of recommendation supporting your application.
A detailed curriculum vitae.
Transcripts for all university studies (undergraduate and graduate if applicable).
An essay of a maximum of 750 words in answer to the following question: ¨Based on your commitment and your studies, how do you perceive your role as a citizen in the society of the future?.
A 15-line résumé of the candidate annexed to the presentation form.
A compact disc containing ten photographs of the candidate.

The application file must not exceed 10 pages, excluding the presentation form, transcripts for all university studies and detailed curriculum vitae.

IMPORTANT

A single copy of the application file, printed on both sides in black ink (no colour) in 12-point font size on a white 8.5 in by 11 in paper, must be submitted to the Forces AVENIR representative at your university. In addition, a copy of the file must be submitted on compact disk in PDF format. That is, ONE file containing a series of pages converted into a single PDF file.
A project can only be submitted in one category.
The contact information for the candidate or the project's spokesperson must be valid until December 2012.
Forces AVENIR reserves the right to forward additional information to the juries.
A file that does not meet the established criteria and expected standard of quality in the presentation and writing may be rejected.
The grants for the Personality AVENIR and the AVENIR Project Par Excellence are not cumulative.

Photographs

Technical specifications: high-quality colour photographs in JPEG format with a standard compression rate; minimun size of 6 in X 10 in and a maximun of 8.5 in X 11 in; minimun resolution of 300 dpi and a maximun of 600 dpi. Please clearly indicate the name of the project or candidate on the CD and enclose with your application file. It is important that we have different types of photographs, that we be able to see the candidates' faces and their expression. Please note that these photographs will be used to promote the candidates in the media and in Forces AVENIR's communications tools. They will not be used as part of the selection process.
