  • APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Would you like to be a candidate for your region’s Forces AVENIR Gala? All you need to do is follow these simple steps:

 

  • Consult the application guide, under the Application tab;
  • Fill out the application form ans attach all the required elements;
  • Submit your application between 19 October 2009 and 1 May 2010.

You can submit your own application or submit an application for a third party. These persons must however be informed that their application is being submitted and agree to be candidates, and are required to help prepare and submit the application file.

 

COMMITTED PROJECT AVENIR

The Committed Project AVENIR is awarded to high school students or groups of students who have distinguished themselves by carrying out projects relating to one of the following fields:

 

  •  Entrepreneurship, business and ecenomy
  • Arts, literature and culture
  • Mutual aid, peace and justice
  • Environment
  • Health, sports and leisure
  • Science and technology
  • Society, communications and education
 The application file must include:
  • The application form and a list of the names of all participants in the project;
  • A text explaining how your project meets each and every criterion for selection, taking into account the context in which it was carried out (six to ten lines per criterion);
  • A essay describing your project and explaining how it has been beneficial to your school or community (400 words maximum);
  • A letter of recommendation from a member of staff at your school supporting your application to the Forces AVENIR high school program.

SELECTION CRITERIA


Tangible results of the project for the community30 points
Relevance of the project 15 points
Innovative nature (originality of the project)15 points
Influence of the project (local, regional, provincial, etc.)10 points
Educational impact of the project for the participants or the people who benefit by it10 points
Scope of the organization (ex. number of participants)10 points
The project’s proximity in time5 points
Quality of the presentation of the file5 points

COMMITTED STUDENT AVENIR

The Committed Student AVENIR is awarded to high school students who have succeeded in maintaining a balance between their academic, personal and social achievements and have distinguished themselves through their leadership and the tangible results of their commitment.  

The application file must include:

  • The duly completed online application form;
  • A text explaining how your application meets each every criterion for selection (sux to ten lines per criterion)
  • Ab essay in answer to the fallowing question : Based on your commitment and your studies, how de your role as a citizen in the society of the future? (250 words maximum);
  • A letter of redommandation from a member os staff at your school supporting your application to the Forces AVENIR high school program;

  • Transcripts for all high school studies.

PERSEVERING STUDENT AVENIR

The Persevering Student AVENIR is awarded to students for whom extracurricular involvement is a way of overcoming difficulties and achieving success and a source of motivation for continuing with their studies.

The application file must include:

  • The duly completed online application form;
  • A text explaining how your application meets each and every criterion for selection (six to ten lines per criterion);
  • An essay in answer to the following question: How has your commitment and perseverance enabled you to pursue your studies and achieve academic success? (250 words maximum);
  • A letter of recommendation from a member of staff at your school supporting your application to the Forces AVENIR high school program and clearly explaining why you are an example of perseverance;
  • Transcripts for all high school studies. Please note that these transcripts will in no way diminish your chances of becoming a finalist; they simply attest to your perseverance and efforts to succeed.

COMMITTED STAFF MEMBER AVENIR

The Committed Staff Member AVENIR is awarded to members of staff who have been involved in an extracurricular activity with students and have distinguished themselves through their ability to arouse the desire to get involved among students and members of the community while resolutely fulfilling their professional responsibilities and maintaining a work-life balance.

 

The application file mus inculde:

  • The duly completed online application form;
  • A text explaining how your application meets each and every criterion for selection (a dozen lines per criterion);
  • An essay in answer to the following question: Why did you become involved, with your students, at school and in your community? (750 words maximum);
  • A detailed curriculum vitae;
  • Two letters of recommendation from either members of staff or students at your school supporting your application to the Forces AVENIR high school program.
