Project Esteban
In 1999, the thirty or so students who established the Société technique du véhicule solaire at the École Polytechnique de Montréal now dream of entering international competitions with the solar-powered car they designed and built. Project Esteban, which necessitated hundreds of hours of work, aims at promoting solar energy and heightening public awareness of the importance of this type of energy. In 2001, Esteban will participate in the World Solar Challenge, a race during which solar-powered cars will attempt a north-to-south crossing of Australia. The Project Esteban students believe firmly that it is their duty to continue conducting research on what is best for the future.
