Mini-Baja 2000
A team of 17 students attending the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) demonstrated extraordinary expertise in equipping the Mini-Baja 2000 all-terrain vehicle (ATV) with innovations quickly noted by the motor vehicle industry. Over an 11-month period, more than 10,000 hours of work were invested in the off-road amphibious vehicle. The team of students studying mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and automated production engineering elected to improve the chassis design developed earlier by former ÉTS teams. The students were able to perfect a new transmission featuring a toroidal selector that considerably increases speed in comparison to a standard belt-driven transmission. Moreover, a vehicle so equipped generates less pollution and is much safer.
