SherBroue
Brewing alcohol-free beer without altering the taste was the ambitious goal that students in Chemical Engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke set for themselves when conceiving SherBroue. In fact, they believed so much in their project that, from the start, they chose to create the Coopérative de solidarité brassicole at the Université de Sherbrooke. The students then achieved an incredible feat by succeeding in designing a unique and functional food process based on industry specifications. After conducting a survey, the student brewers gave SherBroue the characteristics of a red ale. Taking advantage of the fact that their product was alcohol-free, the project founders, concerned about alcohol abuse, established a partnership with the Université de Sherbrooke Health Services and Éduc-Alcool in order to promote responsible alcohol consumption among young people. So far, over 80 students from different faculties have contributed to making this project a success.
