In the midst of the shift to ambulatory care, Myriam Coulombe-Pontbriand, a young nurse, considers her role in safeguarding the dignity of patients as a privilege. Student, mother and spokesperson for Force Jeunesse, she reconciles her studies with her family life while maintaining an excellent academic file. Aware that it is sometimes difficult to be a single working mother or to be obliged to quit school to look after a child, she has founded the Bébés du millénaire movement. Not only has she brought together young people and politics through Parlement Jeunesse, the Conseil du statut de la femme and the Comité jeunesse of the Ordre des infirmières, she has also strengthened the ties between different generations of nurses in order to ensure uniformity in the services. Clear-headed, cheerful and energetic, sensitive to the various social difficulties, she is now reaping the benefits of her commitment by participating in the writing of a memorandum on the Quebec Government's Loi sur l'assurance parentale (Bill 140).
