Committed to Introducing Students to the Sciences in a Recreational Context
In creating the Coupe de science contest, engineering students wanted to get young people interested in the sciences. The first edition of the contest brought together 16 teams of four Secondary 5 students who were given two challenges to carry off in the same day. The teams had the same materials, tools and amount of time and had to call on their resourcefulness and creativity to carry out their tasks, one of which was to construct a floating structure that could support as many rolls of black pennies as possible.

Committed to Establishing a Vast Virtual Community to Fight Drug Abuse
Sébastien Marchand created the Clan: Infos_Drogues, a blog for socializing and sharing information, in order to convince people not to fall into the hellish world of drugs and to help others get out of it. The blog already ranks in the top 50 most popular clans among the 5,800 present on NETLOG and provides its 167 members with extensive information on drugs and drug addiction. It also enables members to interact and volunteer contributors are available to answer their questions.

Committed to Promoting Careers in the Health Sector
The goal of the Community Outreach Project (COP) is to encourage future doctors and dentists to become socially committed and its 65 members all share a common desire: to get involved with young people. To attain this goal, the students toured over 20 Montréal high schools and organized and hosted the Vis la médecine et les carrières de la santé event. COP also carried out an education campaign in elementary schools and coordinated the L’esprit du temps des fêtes project, which distributes Christmas presents to underprivileged children.
