Committed to Giving Marginalized Groups the Chance to Express Themselves
Among other things, Marika Tremblay has taught at Palestinian refugee camps and developed a nutrition profiling program in Mexico, and has thus distinguished herself through actions that have a real impact. The master’s student in political science also launched the Pensée dehors project, an introductory course in radio aimed at helping to socially reintegrate marginalized groups. Moreover, Marika’s involvement with the Auberge Madeleine shelter prompted her to produce a documentary that sheds light on the issue of homeless women.

Committed to Using Engineering to Protect the Environment and Promote Social Progress
Karine Lavertu’s ecological awareness is exemplary, and the doctoral student in mechanical engineering strongly believes that environmental protection and social progress go hand in hand. As a member of the Génie-Vert group, she exerts a positive influence on future engineers and has taken part in numerous projects, including the decontamination of Petit lac Saint-François. And thanks to Karine’s commitment to the Estudiantine housing cooperative, the buildings are now more ecological.

Committed to Giving All Youngsters a Taste for Surpassing Themselves
Elite athlete Sébastien Rojo, a doctoral student in education, is the head coach of the Canadian telemark ski team, works as a sit-ski instructor for physically impaired young people and gives of his time to the Association québécoise des enfants aphasiques. The accomplished outdoors guide also accompanied young Aboriginals on a 21-day mountain hike. In devoting his energies to young people, Sébastien hopes to give the youngsters he meets a slightly clearer perspective.
