Committed to Helping Ease the Pain of Losing a Loved One
Combining gentleness and poetry, and using a humane approach, the Collecting Loss: Weaving Threads of Memory project was created by Esther Kabala and Karen Haffey, and began to take shape in 2007. By collecting clothing that once belonged to the deceased, they created a virtual space where the bereaved can find comfort. In total, 110 donors from Canada, the United States and even England offered articles of clothing, and the stories behind them, which were then woven into a kind of patchwork of compassion and homage that is presented on the website at www.collectingloss.com.
